We started off in Hueco Tanks State Park a week after my last day of work, planning on just a week or so of bouldering (powerful, short climbing without a rope) in hopes of gaining some power for hard moves on longer sport climbing routes. Initially I thought of this type of climbing as training, but instead I soon realized it is a sport in itself- and lots of fun!
After just a few days of climbing in this beautiful place, we were hooked. We knew we had to return soon, but we were off again to spend Thanksgiving in Boulder, CO with Chris’ pseudo Mom and Dad, June and Vince.
Boulder is a unique city…I feel so spoiled to even be able to hang out in such a place. Everyone is out and about, healthy and active. We spent our days climbing locally at Flagstaff, another great bouldering area just a 5 minute drive from downtown. Then the snow hit, and we spent a few days with highs only in the teens, yikes! The climbing gym, Movement, is unbelievable. I was amazed at the quality of routes and boulder problems there. We had fun training inside for those cold days.
In Boulder, at the “Juniverse” (June and Vince’s house that Chris spent about 8 years living in), we often would have happy hour, indulging in a glass of vino or yummy local micro brew ale. Chris decided on December 5th to video tape our toast, which is not unlike Chris because he enjoys documenting fun occasions. The toasts began with June and Vince, to health and good company, and ended with Chris. Chris, to my surprise, got down on one knee and toasted, “To Heather Robinson, the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with…will you marry me?” Wow! The best day ever, I am the luckiest gal in the world to marry my best friend and soul mate.
On cloud 9, Chris and I set off again to Hueco Tanks, for more climbing and warmer weather. So here we are, enjoying life to its fullest. We plan on heading back to Vegas for the holidays and will stick around town for the winter months and climb locally.
Looking forward to catching up with family and friends soon, and best wishes to you all!
Lots of love!
New beginnings…
Chris and I have been having fun adventures together over the past 6 weeks…so much fun that I haven’t updated this blog in forever! (I plan to be better about this in the future).
